Modular Course of Interceptive Orthodontics: bases of diagnosis and treatment 2019/2020


44% of patients who go to a dental office with a problem in their occlusion do so in the temporary or mixed denture phase. Interceptive orthodontics focuses on the correction of malocclusion alterations in these two periods regardless of the severity of the problem or the mechanics used. Without any doubt, early treatment requires discerning the need for treatment and what is more difficult, deciding the exact and opportune moment to carry it out.

The main objective of this course is to learn to diagnose and treat the group of patients between 5 and 13 years of age efficiently by the general dentist.


Know how to distinguish normal from pathological in the phase of mixed and temporary dentures.
Learn to apply the basic principles of diagnosis in common occlusal alterations.
Show with specific clinical situations the parameters to follow (with the use of clear and simple protocols) in the interception of a future malocclusion.

Interceptive Orthodontics and Corrective Orthodontics

To train professionals in the area of orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics in the phase of mixed and permanent dentition obtaining the necessary knowledge for a correct diagnosis and to elaborate a treatment planning according to the treatment of all those dento-skeletal Malocclusions of the child population. The course deepens the acquisition of technical skills and abilities that allow the general dentist to perform the different treatments in the area of interceptive and corrective orthodontics.


Articles related to the different areas of interest in the treatment of malocclusions are included in pdf downloadable and the ORTOFACE team has contributed to its implementation. Special interest in the scarce national literature acquire the articles related to patients with facial malformations and craniofacial syndromes where in a final section are classified.
